Lacàphê, located in San Jose, is a delightful coffee shop that brings a vibrant twist to traditional Vietnamese coffee. Patrons rave about the Signature Saigon, known for its rich, robust flavor, and the egg coffee that perfectly balances sweetness and creaminess. Tram Le highlights the smooth integration of strong Vietnamese coffee with creamy egg foam, making it a must-try.

The ambiance is cozy yet compact, adorned with floral decor that enhances the overall experience. As noted by Mayra Deleon, even during busy periods like the 4th of July, the service remains efficient, ensuring you receive your drink promptly. The Coco Freeze has captured many hearts for its delightful blend of coffee and coconut flavor, described as a "caffeinated almond joy" by Madison Powell.

The unique offerings don't stop there; Lacàphê’s matcha series, including the Ube Matcha Latte and Banana Matcha Latte, showcases a modern take on beloved classics. Minou emphasizes that Lacàphê embraces the boldness of Vietnamese coffee culture, which may feel intense to some but truly represents the authenticity of the beverage. With an inviting atmosphere and an array of flavorful options, Lacàphê undoubtedly leaves a lasting impression on every visitor.

Lacàphê is widely appreciated for its creative and flavorful coffee offerings, notably its modern interpretations of Vietnamese coffee such as egg coffee and coconut coffee. Customers frequently highlight the rich, creamy textures and balanced sweetness, contributing to a satisfying taste experience. The shop's ambiance is described as cozy and aesthetically pleasing, though the small space limits lingering visits. While praised for its diverse and innovative menu, some patrons note parking challenges due to its busy location. Overall, Lacàphê is recognized as a vibrant spot that blends traditional coffee elements with contemporary flavors, appealing to both locals and visitors seeking unique coffee experiences.

My favorite coffee shop whenever I visit San Jose. Love the egg coffee, not too sweet, the Vietnamese strong coffee flavor blends perfectly with the creamy egg foams on the top. Highly recommend

Went here on 4th of July. I was prepared for them to be closed because of the holiday, but to my surprise it was open. I went around 8am and there was already like four people waiting on their drinks. The decor inside is nice with flowers around. The place is small so I would not recommend to hang around. I loved how the menu showed which drinks you are able to get hot. I got the coco freeze and it was just the right amount of coffee and coconut flavored. I am definitely going back and trying their matchas.

As someone who deeply appreciates the evolution of food traditions, I want to clarify a common misunderstanding I often encounter in reviews of Vietnamese coffee. This shop offers a modern take on Vietnamese coffee, characterized by a hazelnut-forward flavor. While it may not be a strictly “authentic” preparation, one fact remains true: Vietnamese coffee is significantly stronger than what you’ll find at Starbucks, Coffee Bean, or most American-style coffee shops. A single glass can easily contain as much, if not more, caffeine than a Starbucks grande latte. The reason for this strength lies in the type of beans used — Vietnamese coffee is typically brewed with robusta beans, rather than arabica. Robusta beans have nearly double the caffeine content of arabica and offer a more intense, earthy, and naturally nutty flavor. This results in a thicker, crema-rich brew with a bolder edge, a defining characteristic of Vietnamese coffee. Traditionally, Vietnamese coffee is served over ice (cà phê sữa đá). The ice is not just for chilling; it helps balance the intensity of the robusta, making the drink smoother and more enjoyable. Some customers unfamiliar with the tradition may feel they are given “too much ice,” but that’s exactly how it is meant to be served. Without enough ice, the flavor could be overpowering. Conversely, when ordered without ice, you’re requesting the undiluted concentrate; as a result, the portion size is smaller. This isn't a case of the business skimping; it’s the proper measure for something so potent. Think of it as ordering espresso rather than a venti cold brew. For first-time drinkers, the iced version is both the most authentic and the most approachable. If you prefer your coffee without ice so you can add ice later, be prepared for a compact serving — its strength compensates for its size, just as intended. Before leaving a negative review about “small portions” or “too much ice,” I encourage visitors to understand the cultural and culinary context. Vietnamese coffee, whether in its traditional form or with a modern twist, emphasizes boldness and balance rather than sheer volume. Recognizing this difference will give you a more positive experience and give credit to the businesses that introduce these traditions to our communities.

Great drinks here at Lacaphe. Located near great restaurants so it’s a good spot to visit in general. The parking is pretty bad in the plaza. It’s just so busy that you may want to look into parking outside the lot in the neighborhood. There are a lot of good drinks on the menu for you to try. The Banana matcha was our favorite. We subbed for oat milk, and I would get this one again. The Ube was okay. I didn’t get much of the Ube flavor in it. It was just kind of bland. Overall I liked Lacaphe. I would come back here!

I ordered the Banana matcha with oat anf we also got a Vietnamese coffee. Both were really good, I suggest 100% sweet for the matcha the Banana portion was very tasty reminded me of Banana pudding.

Eggpresso Hanoi was perfect with 25% sweet and less ice. The new Thai latte was also flavorful with 25% sweet. Service was fast, and the staff was nice. It's a small shop, so there is not much decorations or comfortable settings like many other booming coffee shops in the area.
